Sam Houston National Forest offers an abundance of outdoor experiences for the novice as well as the experienced camper or recreational vehicle enthusiast. In the Timber Lodge RV Resort vicinity, you can find primitive camping, day use facilities and RV parking spots. All will afford you the opportunity to have ample bird watching, swimming or berry picking time.
Many looped trails can be found in this forest, making it possible for you to ride horses or mountain bikes, as well as hoof it on your own two well-clad feet. Check with the rangers at the Ranger’s Stations before entering, so you will be aware of the conditions of the trails. This is especially important after a rain.
Water and toilets are scattered throughout the forest, in most areas of use other than the primitive areas. The primitive do have facilities even though they are limited. This is camping with nature so you and the party with you will be able to experience real basic camping and enjoy an opportunity to practice your survival skills.
In an actual campground, where overnight camping is allowed, showers, toilets, tables and even fire rings are there for your use. Some of these campgrounds require a fee to use them. The primitive camping areas have limited facilities, so you can experience basic living in its most raw form. This gives the camper a chance to practice their survival abilities.
Don’t forget to instruct everyone in your group about the dangers of camping in the wild. There are wild animals running about and the flying bugs can really be a nuisance. Take care and remember that you are just a visitor in the forest.
Camping is always a lot of fun whether you are in an RV or out in a forest roughing it. Timber lodge RV Resort will always try to do everything possible to make your trip and adventure a great one.
