Most families love to get away for awhile and if planning is done in advance, child friendly holidays will be the result. Sure, there are things to be done right around your home, but getting away totally is often a great way to expand horizons of the children. When the next three day weekend comes up at school, take advantage of that and plan to drive someplace different.
You don’t have time to travel any distance so that will rule out a cruise or a trip to another country or most things that require a great amount of travel time. A super campground is one that provides many activities aside from actually sleeping outdoors. If there is one only a few hours from you, that is a fair amount of driving time, and the kids can know that they will be able to swim in a pool or lake at the end of the trip and eventually be able to ride horses. That might keep them content for a while.
Some camps keep small animals in an area for petting. Many kids don’t have a chance to even see little farm animals and just love the chance to do so. Hiking, archery and other activities can be available. Evening movies are something that everyone usually enjoys, and parents don’t have to be shushing their kids at this one.
Everything is or should be supervised by the park security and guides available for all. So if mom and pop want to stay back in camp and enjoy being together, they can do just that. They can have their worries put to the side knowing that the kids went on a hike but with a very reliable guide.
There is also the swimming pool and the adults can enjoy it anytime they wish. Bask in the sun and get wet when you feel like doing so. This is a great way to spend the time you have this holiday. You could have gone to the beach in Florida or California or somewhere back on the east coast because there is so much to do but the cost would be a lot more then your weekend camping trip. Everyone will have just as much fun on this trip.
There isn’t enough time to do everything offered so you must make use of the short time you have available. Remember. This is a relaxing time for mom and pop, your main concern is to show the kids a good time and get in some family bonding.

The time spent was about right and the distance was ok as well. Everyone had a great time and the kids even had fun with their folks in a way they did not expect.
