Lifelong Memories Your Child Will Appreciate

Vacationing young children often won’t remember much of a holiday. As children grow, a vacation represents different things to children of different ages. Children tend to live in the moment and it’s a good idea to make those moments happy. When you are going on a trip to get away from it all, with a young child; ‘getting away from it all,’ can be a different experience.

Two or three years ago I took my daughter on a trip sightseeing in the mountains. We packed many fun things to keep us busy and had a great time. She and I even experienced a stage production of ‘Dora the Explorer’ that I would say was the highlight of the trip. She love the stage production and spoke of it long after we arrived back home. You can enjoy your planned vacation with children.

We climbed through the mountains, and stopped to admire the numerous waterfalls. She was particularly enamored with the chipmunks running to and fro. We both found the zoo terrific to visit. Later that afternoon, we took a ‘tram’ up the mountain with our packed car games that filled the ride so that even the trip aboard the train became a part of the pleasant experience. My daughter now leafs through the pictures I brought back from our vacation with glee, and we talk of all the fun we had.

The only disappointment was her statement about not having pictures of the “funnest” parts of the trip. She indicated that the best part of the entire vacation was swimming in the pool with me. She loved the hotel room watching television and reading. At this I began to think that we go swimming frequently, we watch TV, and we read a lot, so what was so special about us traveling together on vacation?

Was special were the several consecutive days of undivided atteet6nnion. You can have a vacation with children without phones or computers. There will be no meetings or chores to interrupt your fun. You’ll just get to spend top quality time together without anybody competing for attention. You’ll still have fun at sightseeing attractions, and take the time to spend the day in a special way. I make sure to spend at the very least an afternoon at the pool too.

Don’t overload your itinerary so that your holiday becomes a marathon. That’s no fun, especially when children are with you. For the beginner you might think of planning a couple of nights away together so that you’re close to home. Make an effort to find a hotel a few hours away where there is a pool. On those trips (close to home) make certain to just have fun around the pool and relax in your hotel room. Just make some lifelong memories your child will appreciate.
