Lucas Oil Stadium Travel Advice For Visitors

The Lucas Oil Stadium in Indianapolis is the home of the NFL’s Indianapolis Colts. LOS is pretty new as stadiums go, having been built and inaugurated in Aug 2008 with a whopping price tag of $720 million. That also means LOS is a sight to behold, with a retractable roof and a giant moving wall window.

Even the retro feel is pleasing to the eye and fits right into the surrounding environment, unlike most stadiums which blot everything else out. LOS is a state of the art facility, with 7 levels, 137 luxury suites and a seating capacity of 63k-70k depending on the type of game being played. The 160 concessions offer everything from bbq & steak sandwiches to pork tenderloins and onion rings.

Sports aside, the complex also has the Indiana Convention Center and gets an endless stream of visitors attending conventions, exhibitions, trade shows and concerts all year round. For these visitors, and for NFL & NBA fans, there are excellent facilities available in close range. This means plenty of sports bars, nice hotels with well furnished and affordable suites, and restaurants for just about every cuisine under the sun.

In the short time since LOS opened, the restaurants and hotels here have become famous for making even fans of opposing teams feel at home with dollops of Hoosier State hospitality. For a visitor with business or a game to attend at LOS, an ideal choice to get a taste of this hospitality is a hotel in Northwest Indianapolis. This location is just a few minutes from the stadium, and is equally close to both Indianapolis Airport and the downtown area.

The important part, for sports fans, is that a stay here makes it convenient to visit all the sports facilities in Indianapolis. Other than Lucas Oil Stadium, there’s also the Conseco Field House and the Indianapolis Motor Speedway – home of Indy 500. For visitors, it makes it easy to visit the Keystone Fashion Mall, Indiana State Fair Grounds and other local attractions.

Visitors should look for an all-suite hotel that makes the stay a lot more comfortable than at an ordinary hotel room and much cheaper than a suite at other hotels. Facilities and amenities to look for include a fully furnished kitchen, free high speed internet, an indoor pool and fitness center, and an onsite laundry. It’s even better if the hotel provides complimentary meals.

Business travelers and conventioneers attending a meeting or convention at LOS or somewhere in the city will easily find a hotel that offers all of the above, plus additional business friendly facilities and services. This means a full-service business center and a meeting room, at the very least. Look around a bit in Northwest Indianapolis, and it won’t be so hard to find a hotel that matches all these requirements and adds to the pleasure of visiting a fine facility like Lucas Oil Stadium.
