Outdoor furniture is something that everyone uses, but never pays much attention to. You go out to the store when you first get your home and you pretty much never think about it again. The same tired furniture comes out year after year and each year it looks a little worse. Take a really good look at it and the realization will sink in that it is time to replace or upgrade your outdoor furniture.
Because of the material that it is made from and the fact that it is not used as much can mean a longer lifespan for the furniture. However, most people will dump it in the back of their garage or leave it out to face the elements all winter long. It may not seem like it is taking a lot of wear and tear, but rest assured that even after one season that furniture will not have the same luster that it once did.
There are many ways you can update your patio furniture. If the patio furniture has seat cushions with a metal frame, you can purchase new cushions and you can also spray paint the metal. This is not very difficult to do and does not take a lot of time.
If the furniture is a metal base, you could be looking at a little bit of work to get it back up to snuff. Rust may have built up or the elements may have damaged some of the paint. If this is the case, the furniture will have to be sanded down and a coat of primer will have to be applied before the regular paint goes on.
The sanding down of the furniture is very important as it will remove any debris or rust that may have built up over time. If you don’t do this and go straight to the painting, you are either going to have to throw out your furniture or end up repeating this process much sooner than you had ever anticipated.
If the outdoor living furniture is plastic, you can purchase paint that is specifically made for plastic and you can update it as well. There is no need for you to have the same old boring patio furniture year after year. Take a weekend and spruce it up with a new coat of paint and some new cushions.
