Paris Hotels And The World of Cabaret

Paris is a city of romance, of culture and of style, and it’s a combination of these things which is showcased in the famous French performance art known as Cabaret. If you’re booking hotels in Paris, keep in mind the locations of the top cabaret shows so you can easily experience some of these fantastic performances. Just like you can’t go to Paris without seeing the Eiffel Tower, you cannot miss out on cabaret.

Many people will be familiar with Le Chat Noir (The Black Cat) which began in Montmartre in the 1880s. A group of artists with various skills and talents will come together to put on a truly one-of-a-kind show, and it was this which lead to the rise and rise of cabaret as we know it today.

The Crazy Horse is another well-known name in the cabaret performance industry. Not only is it one of the biggest acts in Paris, this is one of the world’s sexiest shows. Yet it’s not at all lewd. Despite the nudity involved in the performance, the focus is on beauty, decoration, dance and music. Sensuality is in the design of the decor and elaborate – but minimal costumes. For a show like no other, this is one not to be missed.

Moulin Rouge opened in 1889 and is surely the most star-studded show in the world, having been used for special performances by Ella Fitzgerald, Liza Minelli, Frank Sinatra and of course many modern pop icons. It is the subject of many paintings by Henri de Toulouse Lautrec and of course the show behind the popular Luhrmann film.

Certainly if you book hotels in Montmartre, you’ll be close to many of the major cabaret acts, and a short walk to the red light district at the bottom of the hill, yet you can retreat to the peace and quiet of this pretty area of Paris. You’ll certainly not forget the feathers, pearls, dance and music of the Parisian cabaret.
